Clean the surrounding surface

The area around each deposit is cleaned to avoid leaving obvious isolated patches.

Plan around footfall

Working areas and timing are agreed in advance for busy entrances and walkways.

  1. 01

    Review the area

We check the surface, number of deposits, access and normal foot traffic.

  2. 02

    Treat the gum

A suitable method is used to soften and release deposits from the surface.

  3. 03

    Clean the surface

Residue and surrounding dirt are rinsed from the working area.

  4. 04

    Check for remaining spots

Any deposits still visible are assessed and treated again where practical.

Can you remove gum from block paving or tarmac?

Gum can be removed from many paved surfaces, but the method depends on the material and its condition. We check this first.

How often should gum removal be scheduled?

That depends on footfall and how quickly gum returns. We can discuss a sensible interval after seeing the site.

Do you work outside trading hours?

Possibly. Tell us your opening hours and preferred timing and we will confirm what is available.

Can every mark be completely removed?

Not always. Age, porosity, previous treatments and the source of a stain affect the result. Once we have seen the surface, we will explain what is realistic and may suggest a small test area.

What if the surface is already damaged?

Loose pointing, failing coatings, cracked materials and unstable joints need to be identified before cleaning. We will discuss whether cleaning should be adjusted, delayed or avoided.
